Jason Brockert was born in 1971 as a native of Holliston, Massachusetts. His youth was mostly spent exploring the woods around his house accompanied by his dog. He saw his rural town turn suburb in the short span of a decade during the 1980's and witnessing that transformation in part fuels his art. His art explores the reverence, inevitability and uncertainty we inhabit for those things we surround ourselves with; houses, cars, food, toys, etc.... He has a fascination with the ubiquitous aspects of our culture and how we relate to those things that are seen and sometimes unnoticed. After a brief stint at architecture school, he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1994. He currently lives in his old hometown and still explores the woods with his dog.
